Today we launched a new website, www.giveitbackjim.com, highlighting Jim Gerlach's close connection to indicted former Majority Leader Tom DeLay and the pay-to-play culture in Washington.

For the last four years Jim Gerlach has been more interested in doing the bidding of DeLay than listening to the people of Pennsylvania's Sixth District.

Gerlach has accepted $30,000 from indicted former Majority Leader Tom DeLay's ARMPAC. Meanwhile he votes with DeLay 90% of the time. Is there a connection? That's for the voters to decide. But we believe that Gerlach ought to return DeLay's tainted money and explain himself to Sixth District voters.

This is an important message. It is also a message that media giant Clear Channel will not let you see.

It's Time to CLEAN up the House.

It is time for change in Washington. Fundamental change. In 2005 we saw Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay indicted, and Republican Representative Duke Cunningham and Republican Lobbyist Jack Abramoff plead guilty. The culture of corruption in Washington has reached new lows, and the people are bearing the costs.

It is time to ask ourselves, if we are not ready for real reform now, then when will we be? If I do not stand up for change, then who will?

Yesterday at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, I unveiled my CLEAN House Plan and signed an ethics pledge that goes above and beyond what is currently required of Members of Congress. I challenged my opponent, Jim Gerlach, to do the same.

My Congressional Lobbying and Ethics Agenda for the Nation (CLEAN) House Plan goes far beyond the proposals currently being offered in the Congress by both Republicans and Democrats.

It wasn't that long ago that Howard Dean told us all "You can't trust Republicans with your money." Well, in the case of Jim Gerlach, there is another Republican who can't be trusted with his own money.

This week, following the resignation of Duke Cunningham (R-CA) after pleading guilty to charges of bribery, Republicans Jim Nussle (R-IA) and Rob Simmons (R-CT) both gave back contributions that they had received from Cunningham. Jim Gerlach, however, has done nothing with the money that he received from Duke Cunningham, which totals $6,000, more than any other Pennsylvania member of Congress (www.tray.com).

Earlier this year, Jim Gerlach refused to give back $30,000 in contributions from indicted Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay. When questioned about holding a fundraiser with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, still involved in the CIA leak probe by Patrick Fitzgerald, a Gerlach campaign spokesman said, "you dance with the one that brung ya."

When I look at the interactions that some campaigns have with the blogosphere, it seems they are looking for one thing and one thing only. Money. Now don't get me wrong, money is important in campaigns. It is very important. The media market for this district is the fourth most expensive in the country. So to win we really need financial contributions, both big and small, to have the resources we will need to get out our message about changing the direction in Washington and electing a representive who truly represents the values of the people of Pennsylvania's Sixth Congressional District.

If you look at the license plates in our state, they say "You've Got a friend in Pennsylvania." Well, here, Tom DeLay's friend in Pennsylvania is Congressman Jim Gerlach.

Here are some facts to consider:

Jim Gerlach is the only Pennsylvania member of Congress to give money to Tom DeLay's legal defense fund. Gerlach gave $2,000 to the fund. ( http://www.tray.com )

Jim Gerlach is the most vulnerable House Republican in the country, and the Sixth District is called a "bellwether for the country."

Jim Gerlach has taken $30,000 from Tom DeLay's Americans for a Republican Majority PAC. ( http://www.tray.com ) Jim Ellis, one of DeLay's associates who was also indicted, is the head of the PAC.
